Meet our team
The director of S and P Investments and Consultants (Pty) Ltd, Pradeep Sharma – MBA (Summa Cum Laude), has spent about 18 years in the sugar industry, having been in the employ of Illovo Sugar and Tongaat Hulett. The last role at Tongaat Hulett was as the Head of Strategy and formed a key part of the turnaround team under new management. Pradeep was an integral member of the leadership team and set the course for the marketing and commercial strategy for the business with the core focus on sugar, and the rationalisation of the supply chain. During his tenure, he also served as Vice Chairman of South African Sugar Millers Association (SASMA) and represented Tongaat Hulett’s interests as a miller at the South African Sugar Association (SASA) as well as other board positions in the various sugar entities.
One of the key deliverables was the Sugar Masterplan for the South African Sugar Industry led by Minister Patel and the DTIC, of which being a key member of the team involved in crafting that plan, has given invaluable insight into the future of the SACU market and the expected trajectory of the market.
Delivered a regional footprint in the African markets, including COMESA, ESA and SADC trade blocs, and diversified Tongaat Hulett’s export portfolio away from bulk raw sugar exports and entrenched Tongaat Hulett as a bagged exporter to key target markets (beneficiation).
Pradeep also has an in depth understanding of key markets in SADC, having served on the boards in country operations in Botswana, Namibia and Mozambique as well as the South African Sugar Millers Association (SASMA).
